What To Do When You Can’t Seem To Get Motivated
Ever have one of those days where you just can’t get motivated? It can be frustrating when there is so much to do.
Firstly, identify how you are feeling internally. Could it be that you need to take a day off and decompress? That is almost always what it is for me.
Then I’ll do this to get back on track ASAP and it works everytime:
- Get my favorite beverage and sit down somewhere comfortable and quiet with a blank notepad and blue pen (it’s usually an โ espresso w/coconut cream powder and maple syrup! ๐)
- Write down ALL the items that are on my mind to do (whether it’s work, home, finances, health, everything…)
- Categorize each item by number from what feels the most urgent to you (#1 being the most urgent).
- Take the top 3 on your list and write them on a clean sheet of paper. I use this priority productivity sheet for the items I want to accomplish first. ( ๐ See Download below โฌ )
- Set a timer (I use Google Timer or Pomofocus )
- Begin to tackle the FIRST item with the mindset that this is the ONLY item today on your mind today. If you get it finished, GREAT! Move on to items #2 if you are feeling motivated.
Keep in mind that breaking down small tasks will feel much more manageable and less daunting.
It’s very normal to feel un motivated at times. Allow yourself a day or two to regroup, and then use the above mentioned 6 Steps to take on one task at a time.
